Overview
The Schoharie County Parcel Viewer is an Internet-based Geographic Information System (GIS). A GIS combines geographic data about a community, including tax parcels, water features, and aerial photographs, with tools to visualize, query, and map these features. Map Tools and Functions can be accessed through buttons and panels located in the map display window. These tools and functions provide the ability to move around the map, change layer display settings, identify features, and perform searches for features within individual layers. Options also include the ability to draw text and graphics on the map, export records, and print a map. The following Help documentation will provide detailed instructions on the use of various tools and functions of this on-line GIS application. See below for a labeled screen shot of the application.

Miscellaneous Notes:
Drawing Times - Please note that some map layers are large and rather complex to process and display via the Internet. Drawing time (refresh time) between processes may be slower when viewing a large number of map layers or features, including aerial photographs.
Scale Dependent Map Layers - Some map layers will only display when the user is zoomed in to a small geographic area (less than 5-10 square miles). Tax parcels and contours (if present) are two such scale-dependent map layers. This is done to ensure speedy display of the map when panning across the map window and to reduce map clutter.
Images in this Help System - Colors, text, and options shown on help system graphics may differ from what is present in the parcel viewer. Help system content is still representative of the parcel viewer, despite any minor inconsistencies.
